Wide Format Print Technician

The Wide Format Print Technician is a skilled production role focused on operating and maintaining wide-format printing equipment within a fast-paced, quality-driven environment. Reporting to the Pre-Media Manager and working closely with the Senior Print Engineer, this position requires hands-on experience with RIP software, prepress workflows, media handling, and adherence to established SOPs. The Technician plays a key role in ensuring consistent, high-quality output and supporting prototyping and production initiatives.
Core Responsibilities
- Operate wide-format printers across multiple ink systems (aqueous, solvent, UV) with minimal supervision.
- Prepare and process files using RIP software (e.g., Onyx, Caldera, Fiery) for accurate and efficient output.
- Perform equipment setup, calibration, and routine maintenance to ensure optimal performance.
- Install and profile new media types; conduct color checks and quality control inspections.
- Manage inventory of inks, substrates, and maintenance supplies; assist with ordering and tracking usage.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace in all print production areas.
- Support Avantra image-setter operations, including supply handling and basic maintenance.
- Assist in the production of high-fidelity prototypes using various print and finishing methods.
- Follow established SOPs for workflow, quality assurance, and material handling.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet production timelines and project specifications.
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience in wide-format printing or related production environment.
- Proficiency with RIP software and basic prepress processes.
- Familiarity with wide-format media types and installation techniques.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and comfort working with technical equipment.
- High attention to detail and commitment to producing quality results.
- Ability to follow instructions and contribute to a streamlined workflow.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or vocational training in printing or graphics preferred.
- Prior experience in print production required; prototyping or finishing experience is a plus.
- Ability to lift and handle materials (50+ pounds) and equipment associated with print production.
Salary Range: $24 - $28 USD Hourly
